You may have noticed that things have been fairly quiet around here. I haven’t posted as much, haven’t had as many new items to share, and haven’t gotten the CSLJ Book Club organized for it’s next book yet. So I wanted to touch in about what’s been going on behind the scenes and try to get back on track.
I don’t know if I have mentioned this before but I have some tendonitis-like issues with my wrists and hands and when the weather changes, they can occasionally swell and become very painful. This winter, the problem seems to have spread to my shoulder as well and I have had a couple of flair ups over the past few month and a half that has made typing and working on new pieces a little difficult and that means I haven’t done as much as I would like. (The good news is that most of the components for my existing products are already made and so fulfilling orders isn’t an issue – thank God – but making new pieces (and photographing them and typing up the listing copy) is just a little more labor intensive and hard on the joints).
I also got a new laptop, which is great because my old computer was definitely on its last legs and slowed me down a lot with constant crashes and freezing up. The new computer should make it quicker and easier to develop new designs, manage my shop, write posts, and stay in touch with all of you… once the transition is completed and everything is all set up. Unfortunately only being able to use one hand during flair ups has slowed down this process as well. *sigh*
The good news is that I have spent my time reading some great books – which I will review as fast as my arm will allow – and brainstorming some new pieces and ideas for my shop that I am very excited about. Most of the new ideas are still too nebulous to share until I can get back to my work-desk and start experimenting with the designs in my head. But I am very excited to share a sneak peek of one project that I managed to implement on one of my better days…. a new set of Jane Austen inspired note cards.
I’ve been meaning to expand my shop to include some note cards for some time now. Considering how many readers are also writers, it seemed like a good fit and I thought that it would be nice to offer some book-themed cards to go with the jewelry that people have been purchase as gifts. I am starting with a limited run of this design with an illustration of Jane’s major books on the cover and a blank inside for notes and messages. If there is interest, I will print more of the Jane cards and design more. I just sent the cards to the printers this morning and won’t get them back until the end of the month but here’s a little peek to tide you over until then. What do you think?
I am hoping that I will be able to do more typing and designing this week and I, hopefully, will be able to post more tomorrow about the CSLJ Book Club and get that going again. But until then, I just wanted to thank you all for your patience and understanding.
