Musical Mandrels

So I spent the evening last night making a new piece of jewelry that required being hammered into shape on a mandrel. It was taking a while to finish and the constant banging was starting to get on my family’s nerves. My new mandrel is hollow and made of metal and makes a sound when I hit it with the hammer not unlike a cowbell and that gave me the idea to put on some music to work along with. Now normally, I am a singer-songwriter kinda gal. I can rock an acoustic ballad like no one’s business but this occasion seemed to call for something a little more up tempo. So I started blasting songs like Uptown Funk and – one of my guilty pleasures – All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor and my hammering got downright rhythmic if not a little funky.

Now instead of getting annoyed and asking me how soon I will be finished, my hubby is grooving along and making jokes about needing more cowbell.  Whatever works, I guess.  What about you? What songs do you like to play when you are working on projects? I am always on the look-out for new songs to add my playlists so leave a comment with some of your favorites.

  1. Great songs Melanie! I have the other Born to Run on my playlist but that comes from being a child of the 80’s.
