Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Books – Literary Fashions for Fourth of July

Good morning, book lovers! And happy Fourth of July!! As promised, I am back with two more Fourth of July outfits, inspired by great American novels.

Of course, you can’t talk about great American literature and not mention Mark Twain, so I really wanted to do a Huckleberry Finn / Tom Sawyer inspired look. For some reason, I have never gotten around to designing any Mark Twain jewelry – I hope to correct that oversight soon – but Mylene over at Creative Daffodil had me covered with her AWESOME Mark Twain t-shirt. (If you haven’t checked out Creative Daffodil yet, you really should. I love Mylene’s work and I’ve got about 90% of her cool t-shirts and posters on my wish-list!). I found of pair of denim shorts that seemed perfect for adventures on the Mississippi river, (I love the little eyelet patches on the shorts!) and added a red belt and sandals for a red, white, and blue look any book lover would love.

Next, I headed out west to the frontier for a Fourth Of July celebration in a Little House on the Prairie with Laura Ingalls Wilder. Again, I went with a red, white, and blue color scheme and I combined a cute gingham top and shoes with a pair of denim capri pants and a Little House on the Prairie Book Purse by Novel Creations. I added a straw cowboy hat and a pretty gold star pendant for a country style look with plenty of bookish charm.
