Hello again book lovers! I am sorry it’s been so quiet in here but it’s been a very Robert Burns kind of month for me and my family. We went straight from Auld Lang Syne to the best laid plans of mice and men going astray with a vengeance and I am still scrambling to catch up with all the good intentions that I had for the New Year.
The original plan was that I was going to take a two week break and spend the time reading, knitting, watching all the T.V. shows that I had waiting for me on my DVR, and celebrating the holidays with my family. Truth be told, this part of the plan went beautifully. Santa was very good to me with lots and lots of yarn, books, and bookish goodies under the Christmas tree. I got two beautiful art prints to hang over my desk, including this beautiful art print and this lovely literary lady and a custom leather wrap bracelet with a quote from my favorite poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. I had a ton of fun knitting with a very yummy, self-striping sock yarn from Knit Picks, and churned out a couple of pairs of socks and some mittens while I made a very big dent in the Sherlock / Doctor Who / Nashville backlog that had piled up on my DVR. (Still to watch: the rest of the last season of Doctor Who, and the Downton Abbey, Sherlock Holmes, and Call the Midwife holiday specials. So… Much… British… TV….)
The trouble came just as the holidays ended. I was just getting gearing up to start designing and blogging again when Rob and I both got sick. It’s nothing that rest, plenty of fluids and a big pot of homemade chicken soup won’t fix – but it’s definitely been enough to slow us down. Even the cat had a little problem that necessitated a quick visit to the vet. Again, nothing serious, but just one more reason I am playing catch-up this month. *sigh* And so, to make it a little easier to catch-up, I am cancelling this month’s book club discussion of Jane Austen’s Emma. I am really sorry and hope this isn’t too much of a disappointment but, to make it to you, I am working on a really cool Jane Austen themed giveaway and should have the details worked out and ready to share with you in the next couple of days or so.
Still, despite the rocky start, I think that 2016 is going to be a great year for C. S. Literary Jewelry and I have a lot of cool things that I am working on that I can’t wait to share with you soon. In the meanwhile, I want to thank you for your patience and I hope you had a wonderful holiday and that 2016 is treating you kindly so far.
Until next time, happy reading!
