Are You Ready for the CSLJ Pumpkin Decorating Contest?

Pumpkin-Badge

It’s almost time for our 2nd Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Fall Giveaway. To enter, decorate one or more pumpkin(s) and share a photo of your creation with us. We’ll be accepting entries, from Friday, Oct. 16th. to  Friday, Oct. 23rd and after all the entries are in, we will vote to determine who made the best pumpkin. The winner will be announced on Halloween and will receive a $25 Gift Card to the C. S. Literary Jewelry Etsy shop.

You can decorate any pumpkin or gourd (real or artificial) and can carve it, paint it, or decorate it in any way you like. However, all pumpkins must be decorated by hand and they must have a bookish theme and be inspired by a fictional character, book, poem, or piece of literature. If you’re a pumpkin obsessed overachiever and want to go the extra mile, you can choose to decorate up to three pumpkins and enter them all for extra chances to win. Each pumpkin must be a unique and different  design to be considered for the contest but feel free to have your pumpkins coordinate with each other.

The entry page for the Pumpkin Contest will go live on Friday with the link to submit your pumpkins and ways to earn additional chances to win. In the meanwhile, you can find some inspiration to help you come up with an awesomely bookish pumpkin design here, here, here, here, and here.

You can also get into the spirit of things with a piece of handmade Halloween Jewelry  for book lovers. Inspired by my favorite Horror books and dark, Gothic poetry, including: The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, my literary Halloween jewelry is on sale this week for 20% off. The offer ends 10/18/15. Visit my Etsy shop today.

Take Your Poet To Work Giveaway!

Poets! Popsicle Sticks! Prizes!! T.S.-Eliot-Take-Your-Poet-To-Work

Wednesday, July 15th is Tweetspeak Poetry’s Take Your Poet To Work Day and I, for one, can’t wait! For those of you who are new, Take Your Poet To Work Day is an annual event where poetry lovers everywhere printout little paper puppets of their favorite poets and take them along to the office (among other places) and then share pictures and posts about their poets’ adventures on Twitter and other social media.

I always enjoy Take Your Poet To Work Day. Last year, T. S. Eliot (shown here with one of Old Possum’s practical cats) spent most of the day in the break room, measuring out his life in coffee spoons. The year before that, Emily Dickinson kept me company as I worked from home. This year, they have added even more poets, (including three of my favorites: William Shakespeare, Maya Angelou, and Walt Whitman) and I am very excited to see what kind of wacky adventures the poets have this time around.

In addition to taking a poet (or two, or three) to work with me, I am also celebrating Take Your Poet To Work Day with a giveaway! One lucky poetry lover will win a $25 gift certificate to my Etsy shop, C. S. Literary Jewelry Etsy shop  just for taking their favorite poet(s) to work with them. Here’s how it will work:

Step 1: Get your Poet – Visit the Tweetspeak website and download one (or more) of their little puppet poets. Color / decorate your poet and then cut them out and attach them to Popsicle sticks.

Step 2: Take Your Poet To Work – On Wednesday, July 15th, take your poets along with you to the office (or wherever you spend your day) and document your poet’s adventures with photos and poets on the social media platform of your choice (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.), Don’t forget to use the hashtag #poettowork and be sure to check out some of the other #poettowork posts and tweets to see what the other poets are up to.

Step 3: Share the Fun – Then head over to this post on the CSLJ Blog to share your posts and pictures for a chance to win.

Want more chances to win prizes by hanging out with your favorite poet(s)? Tweetspeak Poetry is hosting this giveaway and you can win tickets to see an upcoming film based on T. E. Eliot’s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock here.

Easter Giveaway

Easter Giveaway

When I was a little girl. My favorite thing about Easter wasn’t the basket full of chocolate. Instead, it was picking out my Easter outfit. Every year, I would get a new dress, new shoes, a matching purse, and – best of all – a beautiful Easter hat! I am a girly-girl at heart and Easter was the only time of year when I could indulge myself in all the frills that I loved.

With this in mind, I decided to do an Easter giveaway and help you get the perfect accessory to go with your Easter outfit this year. The winner will get a $25 gift card to my Etsy shop and can pick out a special Easter treat for themselves.

Good luck everyone!
