Hello and welcome to C. S. Literary Jewelry. My name is Kerry Gauthier and I create handmade jewelry for book lovers, inspired by classic books, poems, and literature.
My goal as a designer is to give book lovers a way to enjoy their favorite books and poems even when they can’t be reading them. Drawing on my own life-long love of reading, I create literary jewelry with typographical, book page charms and pendants, featuring text from great works of literature such as: Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, Alice in Wonderland and more.
Perfect for wearing to your local bookshop or library, at book club meetings, or while curled up at home with a good book and a cup of tea, my work has a “literary chic” style, combining classic and romantic design elements with a shabby chic charm. Each piece is made by hand and many of my designs can be personalized to create wonderful one of a kind gifts for book lovers and bibliophiles.
I also specialize in creating romantic literature – inspired jewelry for literary weddings and other special occasions.
How It All Began:
C. S. Literary Jewelry (formerly Ciarrai Studios) began when I was laid off from my corporate job as an Executive Assistant. Wanting to make a change in my life, I decided to go back to college in the hopes of becoming a high school English teacher. I have always loved knitting and jewelry making and so, as a way of making a little extra income while I was in school, I opened a small Etsy shop selling beaded gemstone jewelry and hand-knit scarves and accessories. Before long, the books and poetry I was reading for class started to find their way into the jewelry I was making. Excited by the new direction that my work was taking, I dropped the knitted items from my shop and decided to focus on my new book and poetry – inspired jewelry.
As the business grew, my husband, Rob, joined me in running it and now he handles all of our shipping, finances, and logistics. (Read more about the faces behind C. S. Literary Jewelry here.) Together, we have built C. S. Literary Jewelry into a business that we are really proud of, with a small but growing community of book lovers from around the world who love my handmade literary jewelry.
There’s no way of knowing what’s in store for us in the next chapter of our C. S. Literary Jewelry story but I, for one, cannot wait to find out and I would like to invite you to be a part of it by signing up for our newsletter and following us on Facebook and Twitter.
